We're always looking for ways to make your Blue Apron experience even better. That's why we've partnered with Misfits Market to help fulfill and ship Blue Apron orders nationwide.
This partnership allows us to operate more efficiently behind the scenes while continuing to deliver the same quality ingredients, chef-designed recipes, and standards you've come to expect from Blue Apron.
Along with this change, you'll notice a few updates designed to give you more flexibility, reduce packaging waste, and help get ingredients to your door even fresher.
What's Changing?
Less Packaging, Less Waste
Starting this summer, ingredients for each recipe will no longer be grouped together in individual recipe bags. Instead, ingredients will arrive loose in the box.
To make unpacking and cooking easier, we've updated our recipe cards with ingredient checklists so you can quickly confirm everything is there and gather what you need when it's time to cook.
This simple change has a big environmental impact. By eliminating recipe bags, we're reducing Blue Apron's annual carbon footprint by approximately 550 metric tons of CO₂. That’s the equivalent of 12.5 million 16-ounce plastic water bottles, or 39 million plastic grocery bags!
There's another benefit, too: produce stays fresher. Plastic bags can trap moisture and ethylene gas, which may speed up spoilage. By removing them, some ingredients may stay fresh even longer, helping to reduce food waste at home.
More Time to Customize Your Orders
In many locations, you'll now have more time each week to review your selections, make changes, or skip a delivery before your order is finalized.
The amount of time available may vary depending on where you live. If you already have the maximum amount of time to make changes for your area, you may not notice an update.

Faster Paths to Your Door
You may notice your order ships from a different location than before.
Previously, Blue Apron orders were fulfilled from two facilities. Through Misfits Market, orders can now ship from a broader network of fulfillment centers across the country.
For many customers, that means orders may spend less time in transit. And while our packaging is designed to keep ingredients fresh throughout the journey, getting them to you faster is always a good thing.
More Menus, More Planning Flexibility
By the end of July, you'll be able to browse and order from up to six weeks of menus in advance.
Whether you're planning ahead, scheduling around travel, locking in favorite meals, or skipping a week, you'll have more time and flexibility to manage your orders.
What's Not Changing?
How You Order
Whether you use Subscribe & Save or order à la carte, there are no changes to how you shop Blue Apron. You'll continue to place orders through the same website and app. The same goes for Blue Apron+ members — You’ll still enjoy free shipping on every order.
Our Commitment to Quality
Blue Apron remains committed to sourcing high-quality ingredients and maintaining the standards our customers expect.
You may know Misfits Market through its work reducing food waste by rescuing products that traditional retailers might not sell due to cosmetic imperfections. While we admire and support that mission, it is separate from Blue Apron's ingredient sourcing program.
The ingredients in your Blue Apron orders will continue to meet the same quality and sourcing standards you've always relied on.
